Syd & Squid is a traditionally animated personal project, made in my downtime alongside freelance work.  It's based on a concept created long ago for a university assignment, and introduces the two besties - one an energetic, good-hearted guy who loves to surf, and the other a gentle soul who's just about adapted to life on shore.  

 

It was one of those things that started as a crazy idea, and steadily turned out to be one of the funnest and most rewarding projects.

 

It's animated on paper, line tested in MonkeyJam, scanned, frames and backgrounds inked and coloured in Photoshop, comped in After Effects, and edited in Premiere.
